OUR GARDENS
Our Story
After reading many articles about educating young students and the effectiveness of growing plants on carbon emissions, we decided to create a network of Orange County community gardens to promote eco-friendly choices in the new generation. The workshops we host are specifically designed to educate the youth on certain topics related to the climate. We aim to have at least one hands-on activity every couple of weeks to engage our students and to provide a real-world example of protecting our environment. In addition to these classes, Climate Garden hosts plant shares or Farmer’s Market events to develop leadership skills in our students and to get hands-on experience outside.
During each season, Climate Garden will provide a different curriculum, designed to match that specific time of the year. Take a look at this quarter’s syllabus below.
Developed to encourage sustainability within students, Climate Garden contains kid-themed plants, including the Pizza and Spaghetti Garden, chicken coop, and the Butterfly Garden. Through this community garden, we hoped to inspire elementary and middle students about ways they could help the environment from climate change. We aspire to create a community of friends and activists, fighting together for something they truly believe in.

SPRING SYLLABUS
For the Spring 2024 Quarter, Climate Garden has decided to take a more hands-on approach. Through gardening and intriguing climate change experiments, students will understand the need to take action and the value of protecting our pristine environment.
The schedule is shown on the right and the complete syllabus is linked below:
ACTIVITIES
MONTHLY PLANT SHARES
During plant shares, we hope to deepen our student's perspectives on sharing their knowledge with others. Through these monthly events, they will get to engage with other people while also learning a lot about different species of plants.
FARMER'S MARKET EVENTS
From the fruits and vegetables produced by the garden, students will get a taste of the real world, sharing their harvests with other avid gardeners and experts, through these events.
SUMMER STEWARDS CAMP
A program begun in summer 2023, Climate Garden hosts an annual virtual summer camp for youth called Summer Stewards, aiming to teach them about simple ways to make a difference in the climate movement.
